Blossom touching the sky

Yesterday, I went to a wedding. The wedding was unique and wonderful, and worthy of a better post than I can write today. so I hope you'll bear with me until I get the photos uploaded.

(On a related note, I want everyone in the photos to be able to find them easily; so after much consideration and sulking, I've decided that I may have to reactivate my Facebook account. SIGH.)

Solitary flower

Until then, I thought it was time I wrote about a few of my fellow bloggers. There are some remarkably entertaining, intelligent people out there on the internet, and I fully intend to find all of them. Eventually.

Here, then, are a few blogs I read and enjoy.
  1. It's no secret that Wil Wheaton is a fantastic writer, as well as a lovely chap. If you're even remotely interested in geek culture, gaming, writing, or just reading about the life of a strange normal bloke / internet celebrity, I really can't think of anywhere better to go. WWdN: In Exile
  2. Meg Pickard* writes for the Guardian, takes wonderful photographs, and is endlessly fun to read. Her site, Meish.org, is also the home of the infamous anti-Valentine's cards.
  3. I've only been reading Boobs, Injuries and Dr Pepper for a little while, but she's funny, and fascinating, and I fully expect to continue reading for a long while to come.
  4. Innocent Loverboy is a sweet and sexy student who blogs about life, love, and the chaos that comes with it. Give his blog a looksee, and if you like it, tell him I sent you!
Fire flowers

In the year since I wrote this post linking to other blogs*, I'm embarrassed to say that my reading list hasn't got much longer. This is where you come in. If you'd all be very kind, I'd like you to post your favourite blog in the comments section. For everyone who does me this favour, I'll click their name and take a look at their blog as well. It's only fair, right?

*Yes, Anna and Meg are related. Sisters. And it does show in their writing styles, and the things they get irritated by; which I think is very charming.

  1. I found you on Blogs of Note, and it's only the second one that's actually made me want to continue reading. Another blog I love is The Underwear Drawer (http://theunderweardrawer.blogspot.com), and it has nothing to do with underwear (or porn). It's about Michelle Au's journey through medical school, pediatrics residency, switching to an anesthesiology residency, and now practicing medicine all while juggling two kids. She's currently working on a book with some nifty drawings. I discovered her blog years ago when I stumbled upon her cartoon of The Twelve Types of Medical Students (which you can view here: http://theunderweardrawer.homestead.com/twelvemedstudents.html) and I've been hooked ever since.

  2. Cat, thanks for getting me started! The cartoon is great, and from my extensive experience of watching Scrubs, probably quite accurate.

The blog looks great! That's gone in my feed reader, I look forward to seeing more from her.

  10. I really like reading Meg Pickard's stuff! You're right, there is some similarity with Anna Pickard (so is there actually some circle of recognition amongst bloggers?), but that fact makes her no less compelling a read.

I submit http://tokyo-girl.blogspot.com for your persual. I have the sneaking suspicion you'll have read her before, but nonetheless I love her style of writing.

Also, for those living under a rock, or not an internet-based insomniac like myself, I get a real kick out of reading the postsecret.org stuff.

I love Postsecret, and it's well worth mentioning again. Incredibly moving stuff.

ABM, Stay Forever Sunday is possibly one of the prettiest blogs I've ever seen... amazing photographs! Thanks for sending me that way!

  14. Since I became a Mother the only blogs I seem to read are 'Mummy blogs' - apart from yours of course!! Yours is a window into my former life and makes me all nostalgic...Now I know you're not a mother (yet - take your time)!! But there is a FANTASTIC blog called Motherhood The Final Frontier (http://motherhoodthefinalfrontier.com) which I would recommend anyone to read (parent or not). It is hysterical and the woman who writes it is so so talented. Have a look.

  20. Paresh, you're quite right! Don't worry, I'll have lots of time to update this weekend, and I've got a couple of things in mind...

To everyone who's suggested a blog, don't worry, I'll get to yours very soon, but I'm afraid I'll have to stop taking suggestions for a little bit. Maybe I'll do it again a few months down the line.

  27. I would love to have a green room. I am a first time mother and I have an eight month old. I work at Narconon drug rehab five days a week and can't seem to find the time to spend in a garden or green room. I feel like I can't even find enough time to spend with my son much less an extracurricular activity. Does anyone have any pointers as to how I can manage all the above better?

  28. @nolan2109---- Sometimes it helps to re-evaluate your career and maybe even priorities to make you more feel as though you are living a more fulfilled life. I am of the thought, "if you don't like it, change it!" Go for it, find a new job, spend more time with your son. You could get hit by a bus tomorrow and might regret not doing so..
